Dealership inventories across China rose to an average 42-day supply in November from 39 days in October, after automakers shipped more cars to dealerships for year-end sales.
December is traditionally a strong sales month as automakers attempt to fulfill annual sales targets.
In November, inventories of imported vehicles edged up to 57 days, from 55 days in October. Stockpiles of Chinese brands also rose to 56 days, from 51 days a month earlier, according to the China Automobiles Dealers Association.
Stockpiles of foreign-brand vehicles built in China amounted to a 35-day supply, up from 33 days in the previous month.
Jaguar Land Rover dealerships continued to report the highest average inventories, with an 80-day supply in November. They were followed by Chery dealers, who were burdened with a 64-day supply.
In China, dealership inventories typically range from 24 to 36 days.
