A story by a third grader with aplastic anemia has touched many hearts after it was posted on the internet by her teacher in Suining, Southwest China's Sichuan province.

The story, titled "The person I'm most familiar with", is about the 9 year-old's grandmother. It talks about how her grandmother not only raised her, but saved up enough money to treat her disease. The story tells how grateful she feels her grandmother made so much sacrifice for her without complaint.

"It makes me sad seeing my granny shed tears over my disease. If I can grow to my adult age, I will treat her with great respect and filial piety. "

The girl was born with aplastic anemia and as her parents divorced, it was her grandparents who raised her.

Aplastic anemia is a rare disease with a high fatality rate among children. Patients must receive blood transfusions in order to live, and the cost is high.

So far, the girl's school, the Mingyue Elementary School, said it has raised over 30,000 yuan (around 4,500 USD) for her treatment.
