BEIJING -- People who have failed to fulfill court orders will be unable to travel by plane, sleeper train, or first-class coaches on high-speed trains with their passports in China, according to the Supreme People's Court (SPC).

Previously, as courts only had the ID card information of defaulters, airlines and railway companies could only bar defaulters from purchasing tickets based on ID card information provided by courts.

However, many defaulters still managed to buy tickets with their passports, circumventing the ban.

The SPC and police formulated a system for browsing passport information online, and the SPC paired defaulters' passport information with their ID card numbers so that passports will no longer be a viable alternative.
